So today, I've spent a good chunk of time practicing Chopin 10 no. 4, as my goal is to be playing it fluidly by next Saturday so I can have a month to get it ready to perform in May. I was practicing the coda and was at the part with all those darn LH G#'s....well I was getting it real close to speed finally and was feeling pretty good, and then all of a sudden I came crashing down on a G# with the WRONG part of my pinky, right on the top joint/knuckle part while my finger was a little too flat....and now my pinky hurts a lot whenever I get a little too agressive playing.
I thought it was a little funny for my first piano related injury [well, I've ripped off a couple nails before...]
I guess this was just God's little reminder for me to slow down and practice right, not at tempo all the time, :P.
As a side note, I only have about 4-6 measures of the piece I can't play at speed now....so that's nice! Whoo!

Piano-related injuries are one of those things we all want at some point but don't talk about. I'm just dying to casually mention in front of a bunch of cute girls at a party, "Yeah, I injured myself while PLAYING THE PIANO, because that's kind of my thing." I'm sure that makes me the very picture of a mature, level-headed, competent pianist and some kind of human being.
Congratulations on the rite of passage. Maybe you can pull a Scriabin in reverse and only play pieces for the right hand. Also, make sure you upload that Chopin etude when it's up! I love that one. AND, if you haven't already, definitely also upload the Rachmaninoff prelude op. 32 no. 10 (I'm working on that too! I just posted about it!).

Ouch. Well, at least you hurt your finger while playing the piano. Last year I hurt my LH pinky in a bike accident. Now using sloppy technique with flat fingers hurts more than before. 
My grand piano is a Yamaha C2 SG.
My other Yamaha is an XMAX 300.
