A bit off topic, but thought y'all might enjoy. Not a bad way to spend ones birthday smile

The "Mighty Wurlitzer" theater organ featured at the Organ Stop restaurant in Mesa, AZ, claims to be the largest Wurlitzer theater organ in the world. With nearly 6000 pipes, a custom upgraded/redesigned 4 manual console modeled after the largest "Fox Special" console Wurlitzer ever built, 422 stop tabs, 113 action pistons, 32 note pedal board, 327 control switches, 60 hp worth of blowers, and full midi integration I guess its kind of hard to imagine its not smile The console is also integrated with a variety of percussion instruments around the room, including an upright honky tonk piano and grand piano. See not so OT after all laugh

Definitely worth a stop if you are in the Phoenix area!

I forgot about this place. Haven't been there in several years! Definitely a fun place to visit. Glad to know they are still around.

Been there a few times myself, in their current location and when they were in the old building (which is now a doctor's office I believe). Try this: go outside the building where they have the large red pipes (in glass) when they're going and you can feel the ground rumbling. It even makes your heart rumble. It's really quite a near experience.

I'll have to check that out next time! Apparently that's the 32' Wurlitzer diaphone, with an output of 16Hz! You can definitely feel the whole building shake when they light that puppy up smile There is (was) apparently an organ in Atlantic city with a 64' (8Hz) diaphone!

I've heard about this organ. While it may be the largest theatre organ (4/78 compared to the 5/80 Sanfilippo), it is definitely not all-original.

The website linked shows that it was originally a Style 260, which is a 3/15. Most of the pipes and accessories, including the pianos were added in a later date.

BTW, the Fox Specials were 4/36s so it's amazing that the replica console could accomodate twice as many pipes.

I really want to listen to one of these in life and hear the 32' Diaphones shake the entire room.

That looks like a lot of fun! I've never actually heard an organ live.

The Blackpool Towere Wurlitzer is still going strong. There`s one in the Winter Gardens too. My wife has played `em both . . .
