With less than 2 weeks to go I'm wondering what keyboards/DP might be announced.

Likely new version of Roland FP-7F?

Possibly new version of Yamaha P155?

New CLP 5xx models?

What do you guys think??

A similar level of disappointment we've gotten from NAMM as of late?

Prove me wrong, Silent Bob.

Hmm, if Yamaha did release a new CLP line, that would seriously shuffle the cards for me. We'll see but an update is sorely needed in my opinion.

MP6 / MP10 successor ? Just guessing, could very well be next winter NAMM, but on the other hand the current line of DP's has been updated to GF, RH II and RM3 II, so the stage Piano's are next in line...

CLP refresh cycle seems between 2-3 years:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clavinova#CLP_models

so new models this year is not unreasonable as the 4xx came out in 2011.

P155 is more than 4 years old at this point and way overdue for replacement.

I hope you're right on this one, JFP! I'd love for Kawai to come out with a new portable DP that has the GF action and extended sound samples, but I'm not holding my breath....

Cheers,

K.

A week ago I saw an MP10 marked down to a "clearance" price at a Chicago-area dealer. Probably just a coincidence...

Can you really use "new" and "Motif" in the same sentence?

What to (reasonably) wish for: The P2020 - fully sampled, superb sympathetic resonance, continuous position sensed keys, killer rare earth speaker system, lightweight & gigable, room for 50 free downloadable voices, not surprisingly fairly inexpensive due to mass marketing and the computing revolution that's been going on for the last 20 years making the design of a decent DP fairly trivial at this point.

What to (unfortunately) expect: The P155.1 - two fewer buttons, one less character in the 7 segment LED display, even tinier sample set realized by a crack team of 100 engineers working day and night to stretch and bland out the loops more than ever thought humanly possible, inexplicable slight price hike over the arguably slightly superior model it was designed to replace. Did I mention the new paint job? Woo hoo!

Funny, but I strongly suspect that your prediction will come true....needless to say, I feel your pain!

A few things ... But no game changers piano wise... Incremental upgrades.Few nice synths on the way though.

Not very likely GF, it's too big and heavy for a 'portable'. I think RM3 II would be just fine for a stage piano

What would be some of the upgrades on the CLP line at this point? LCD screen would be nice.

P155 would probably get the same makeover as the ydp 161 to 162 when it's released.

Roland posted this on their YouTube channel for Roland Connect April 2013

It's titled Roland is BACK!

Seems like some sort of arranger keyboard to me.

Yes, a "backing" keyboard / arranger...
