I want to learn how to play renaissance music. Is there any suggestions on which composer i should start with?
I personally like Orlando Gibbons and William Byrd but all renaissance music seems hard to play.
Is there any theory I should read on the internet? Something special with the notes in general when it comes to renaissance music and what should i expect?

Is there any beautiful baroque pieces out there? Personally I think they are all beautiful but people in general thinks baroque music sounds odd. I want something to perform for a crowd of people which aren't used to advanced piano music. Simply a beautiful melody.

Get the FItzwilliam Virginal Book - it's the standard gold mine for Renaissance keyboard music. Also look at Sweelinck.

Keep in mind that ornamentation (and the markings) are very different than in baroque music, and they're much less standardized than in Bach. Each composer is a bit different, so you might look into recordings of Renaissance music (usually on harpsichord) to get a feel for the style.

Thanks a lot. Should i play with or without pedal? Sometimes playing without pedal notes sounds way to short.

Is the tempo strict in Renaissance or am i free to violate the written "rules" and play more free like Glenn Gould would do?

You can play it any way you like. Your audience can like it or not like it, just like with any other music.
