A charming and insightful piece about the joys and sorrows from piano lessons across the arc of a performer's career, from young student to aging performer -- you might not be able to access this article if you're not a subscriber, but if you aren't, it's well worth buying this issue or tracking it down at the library, barber shop, etc.:

It will be written on April 8 and we can already access? I'm honored...

I can only read as far as "But as the notebook recalled memories of lessons I’d had—both as a child and later, once the piano became my life—I wondered if my story was all that different. . . ."

Could you share the remainder of the article?

I can't think of a way to do so legally. I do suggest you look for the issue at your local magazine dealer -- it's probably on the stands now or will be within a day or two.

I enjoyed his article very much! Here is a link to a video with Jeremy Denk actually showing us the starred illustrations written by his teacher!
