I'm looking for a piano to last me around 4 years before I need to move again. My price range is in the <$2500. This seems like a pretty good deal in my area.

I was also looking at this U1 for $2500 (is it a U1? can't tell). I wonder if it's worth the extra money? The practice pedal is pretty appealing for me since I'll be living in an apartment -- I'm not sure if the P202 middle pedal is practice or sostenudo.

Anyway, I haven't visited any dealers yet. Should I consider piano stores in my area first? I'm guessing that their prices won't be that great for something I won't be keeping permanently.

I don't think the second piano is a U1... another P-22/202 maybe?

The first one, for $1450, looks like a good prospect. I'd suggest having it inspected by a qualified piano tech, (other than the owner). Reconditioning can mean a lot of different things, other than warn parts replaced.

I played a Yamaha P22/202 at a church a few weeks ago and it sounded very nice, and had a nice key-touch.

Good luck and keep us informed!

Rick

The P202's middle pedal will be a bass sustain as it is a school model. Same on a P22.

Why are you looking for a piano in Colorado if you are in Michigan?

the 2nd pic may be a U1, I have seen a U1 sell for $2500 on craigslist while I was in search for one and that is probably the lowest you'd get it....at a dealer, you can get a used one (usually >15 years old) for as low as $3500 but at least it comes with a 3 year warranty. anyway, you can always ask the seller for the model and serial #. watch out for gray market yamahas.

Oops, misread Denver for Detroit... I'll check if the second link is a U1.
