For the past couple of months I've been searching for a digital piano. I originally wanted something like an acoustic piano, that I could also produce music with. Now, I've never done music production, but I'm wanting to be a singer/songwriter so I'm trying to find something I can work with on my computer as well. I started looking at digital pianos such as the Yamaha DGX series as well as the Casio PX series, but I wasn't sure if those would do or I should be looking for something more aimed for production. If at all possible, I'd like something with close to all 88 keys.

You can get almost any digital piano to "connect" to a computer. Is that all you mean ?

If you're on a budget, check out the Korg Krome 88 or the Yamaha MOX 88. I believe both of those can integrate effectively with DAWs. Otherwise, what dmd points out is that virtually all DPs can be used as a controller for VSTs.

Sorry, I mean something that will be easy to produce music on my computer with the help of the keyboard/piano.

And also I'd be okay with something a few years old, that's used if you know any good past models.

Thanks so much for recommending those, I've taken a look at them and they seem to be what I'm looking for. A little on the expensive side but I'll probably have to put out some money no matter what.

You're welcome. Good luck with whatever you decide. I did own the Krome, and it's a very competent keyboard on its own, leaving aside its DAW capabilities.

Take a look at the Casio WK-7500 76 key workstation. It doesn't have the weighted keys of an 88 key digital piano, but you can produce music on it or integrate it into a computer DAW. It has a 17 track sequencer on board along with hundreds of rhythms, and other instrument tones. All sounds can be edited. If you want something more professional, you could look at the Korg Krome, and Yahama MOX8 or look to pick up something older used.
