Bloke in a piano shop said after the German show Yam will have a replacement for the P155.

Any updates on this yet?

I had a go on a 155 and was VERY impressed, especially since a lot of retailers seem to be slashing its price (£799) in preparation for its replacement.

However even though the 155 is getting pretty old going on 4 years, is it still a decent machine? As I expect the replacement the 165 or whatever will probably be £1500 new.

Blimey! It`s going for £1099 inc discount here! And his prices are usually good . . .

The P155 is a very fine piano and still often (perhaps the MOST often) recommended here in the forum, despite its age. It's basically the cheapest option that has some of the higher-end features in Yamaha's line.

We've been speculating about a replacement for it for years now. After all the fakeouts I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever happen (like the CP33 and CP300, which will live forever, apparently).

Seriously, you'd have a better chance of getting rid of herpes than getting the P155, CP33, and CP300 out of the Yamaha catalog.

I know I sound like a broken record---wait, what the heck is a "record"?---but having a USB-based firmware update of new tones would be a welcome, relatively low impact refresh.

Lots of retailers slashing it to £799?? It's £1099 everywhere I look. I could only find it at £799 with one retailer and that was second hand. Which other retailers have it for £799? That would be a good deal

I agree. The line is too good, and sells too well. They are sticking around a bit longer.

Juspin, get it if the deal is that good. You will not be disappointed. I can't imagine getting rid of my CP33. I LOVE it. The tone, the action is fantastic.

very disappointing that they didn't update the p155 at musik messe this year. the next opportunity seems like next winter namm. the only thing i want at this point is the ivory texture on the keys and possibly more piano sounds. maybe i should look for a different model instead of waiting for this update which might never happen.

I'm a little surprised by the lack of new digital piano models from Yamaha (just the DGX-650?). However, there's nothing to stop the company from announcing new models during the year, so I expect we will see a number of updates in the coming months.

Cheers,
James

I think its kind of refreshing that Yamaha is not pumping out new digital piano's for no reason other than to update them. They have the great products now as it is. No reason to hurry.

Waiting for a model that may or may never come, and is not announced will only serve to discourage you. Take a look at what is available and pick something out. Live in the moment, I think someone said.
