We purchased a Yamaha Arius YDP-140 in 2010. In the last two weeks the adjacent B and C keys have begun to cancel each other out when playing one or the other in rapid successsion (trill) - or - when holding one key down, it causes the other not to sound at all. This problem occurs in all sets of b and C in all octaves.

Also, the piano is in excellent condition. I opened the top and found very little dust and saw no broken keys or other obvious problems. It is played approximately 1 to 1.5 hrs per day for 4 or 5 days per week for classical training only. And the piano is positioned securely in a living room away from foot traffic, away from radiators or vents, and receives no physical abuse or wear and tear otherwise.

I'd like to know if this is a typical problem or learn of any solutions for identifying or solving a frustrating issue for so new an instrument.

Thanks for your input.

I have had the 141 for about a year now and haven't had any problems. Call Yamaha consumer support maybe?

This is an electric keyboard, right? Since you checked out all the physical parts, I would guess it is a computer problem--something in the circuitry is no longer functioning properly.

If customer service can't help you, and the warranty's up, it might be time for a new one.

Sounds like a problem with the keyboard scan circuit. You could check connectors between the keys and circuit boards, but likely not a DIY job. Call Yamaha support.

I reponded in the digial forum as well, but
