No Monica, I'm only a beginner ploughing through simple Bach stuff, but one day I would love to have a crack at some Einaudi. What is his simplest piece? I'm at the level where I can play Bach's Minuet in G Minor to give you some idea of where I'm at.

I would think if you could tackle any Bach, you could play Einaudi's simpler pieces. "Limbo" is probably his easiest; it basically just has whole-note chords in the left hand and 8th-note arpeggios in the right hand. AnthonyB has a good video of it on his YouTube channel. "I due fiumi" is harder but much prettier.

I can probably make that work, and then I ca put in the other one for a Piano Bar perhaps.. OK Monica so since you've played Primavera how did you play the music at measures 20? I mean I can play it as written with the octaves but to me (oddly enough) I think it sounds more like the CD if you do single notes in the LH..

I guess I can mess with both ways and see how the recordings come out before doing the video etc.

Ttigg, I'm at work right now, and it's been long enough since I played the piece that I don't remember what measure 20 looks like... I'll have to take a look at the book tonight and get back to you. I'm guessing I played it as written, though, as that's my usual tendency unless it's a chord or something I can't reach.

Thanks, kawaigirl, and it's great to hear from you again! I miss all your Einaudi recordings, but at the rate you were blowing through them, you've probably played them all! smile

Ttigg, I'm sitting here with my primavera sheet music and cursing the fact that it doesn't have measure numbers. Measure 20 by my reckoning (p. 2, line 1, first measure) doesn't have any octaves in it. confused Maybe you did a typo? What page/line number are you looking at?

The only octaves I see are on p. 4 of the piece (p. 40 in the book) starting on line 5. I do play those octaves as written, but I agree with you that it doesn't sound like the CD. I think that's because he arranged this for solo piano, but in the CD it sounds a lot better because he's got all this wild string action going on. When I recorded this piece I actually skipped the second repeat because I found that part somewhat boring (compared to the CD) and vastly preferred the pretty section starting on p. 42.

Well there goes my first lesson in trying to count measures

Yep that's it, I guess I'll have to see if I prefer one or the other - thanks for checking for me thumb

With aw2pp working on Le Onde and Monica working on Dietro L'Incanto I figured that I should try to work on Tracce again. (I did make a post in the "What are you working on?" thread about that.

I just thought it would be interesting having 3 of us working on something from "Le Onde" at the same time. smile

I also love Onde Corte and a few others from Le Onde that I know I won't be working on any time soon though...

TTigg, the pieces from Le Onde are in the "Best of" book. I'm fairly sure you have that book, right?

Glad you got the chance to get your copy signed too, TTigg. smile

Did you get the standard three letter looking signature then?

I did indeed. I'm going to have to remove this from the book (perhaps) to get a good scan of it, then I can frame it in my piano room!

A while back we talked about putting together threads/YouTube channels that would be covers of Einaudi pieces for a given album. I still think that would be a cool idea, if we could talk enough people (not me) into doing the hard pieces. whome

Well we have you, Kawai Girl, Mr. S&H and our own "Mr Einaudi" AnthonyB - I think it would be a great idea to at least make up a playlist for each album.. thumb

Funny, I was just working on "Le Onde" last night. It's been so long since I played that tune I completely fogot everything until I remembered that this was one of the tunes on my "re-do" list. I butchered the last one remember?

Odds are I'll start to relearn it and end up butchering it all over again. It's what I do!

I'm up for a Le-Onde-a-thon if everyone else is though. Count me in on a Nefelli challenge as well. Some of my absolute favorite pieces/songs/pongs!

Hey all

Amazing thread! I came to know of Einaudi through Anthony's recital! I've it running for the last 5 days in my work computer on repeat mode. I just cant get the song out of my head!

Now I soo want to start playing Einaudi! Can you suggest any songs to start with? I definitely want to play Nefeli! Think thats my favorite (thanks to Anthony). But is there any other easier songs that I should attempt first before looking at Nefeli?

Learning Music is hard. But enjoying ones own music makes it soo much easier!
