I am completely in love from two weeks in Granados music, mostly on youtube now.

However, can you recomend me some good performances of his music?

I know only the Jorge Prats, but if there is something good or better I will be glad to hear smile

I think it is almost universally agreed that de Larrocha is among the greatest interpreters of Spanish piano music. You certainly couldn't go wrong with any of her recordings of Albeniz, Granados, de Falla, et al.

Regards,

Good evening. "Better"? Doesn't mean much, by my thinking. The spanish pianist Javier Perianes has issued a great disc after studying de Falla instensively. It is hard to go wrong with any recording, the music itself is so great.

Thanks, I will buy some Alicia's CDs smile
I go to search and listen, I will also look at Perianes, I am never closed to less known pianists.

Funny you should say that: I have been told more than once that Spanish music requires a very particular temperament - like a Spanish bride, serenader, etc. - to bring this (often pianistically overwritten) music to life. The difficulty of merely playing the immense quantities of notes in Albeniz, for example, often obscures the character of the work. I heard that Rubinstein's technical simplifications in Triana help him to convey the spirit of the work better than almost anyone.

Alicia De Larrocha's recording of Goyescas is incomparable, definitely. However I would also recommend Douglas Riva's marvellous 11-volume "Complete Works" released by Naxos. There are so many beautiful miniatures by Granados that are so rarely heard, and Riva's playing is exquisite.

I can certainly agree with this.

Larrocha has recorded Goyescas several times. I have looked at this website :

http://larrocha-discography.blogspot.fr/search/label/Granados

There is a 1955 LP record (Decca) never released on CD, a first release in a DG boxset from the 1950's and a 1963 recording (Hispavox).

After searching on Amazon, I see there also is a 1977 Decca record and a RCA record.

Which record do you have ? I'm sure all of these records are all very interesting. Does anyone listened to all of them ? Are some notable differences in interpretation ?

I have only the 1963 Hispavox recording (re-edited under EMI label) so I can't compare with others.
