I don't need a "simplified" or technically easier version - just something that isn't as long!!!
Hope this isn't a dumb question. I am asking on behalf of my son.

Are you talking about the solo piano version or the piano with orchestra version?

I don't think a version like that exists (that hasn't been simplified) but what you could do is decide what sections you can do without and simply cut them out.

RiB was commonly shortened in the old days. Gershwin's own recording was cut for time, as was Oscar Levant's. Leonard Bernstein wrote that you could randomly drop sections out of the work and it would not adversely impact the structure. I'm not sure I agree with that, but check out the composer's and Levant's recordings (they're on youtube) to get an idea of what can be cut.
