LA, you really play it very thoughtfully. I very much enjoyed listening to it.

Thanks for sharing.

I enjoyed your playing very much but didn't particularly like the variants. Are these your own variants, Chopin's, or someone else's?

I enjoyed it too but yes, why the variants? It reminds me of the kind of thing Liberace would do while smiling at the audience and winking.

"Advanced players will be interested in the elaborate alternative ornamentation given in the Vienna Urtext Edition in their second version of the piece. Examples of selected variants are also given in the commentary in the Paederwski Edition." [1]

I believe that the alternate version is authentic, as the above quote may suggest. However, I don't know if that is the version that LA is playing.

Thank you all for listening. I knew this question would pop up because this is a pretty rare version revised by Chopin himself. The score I play is from Ekier edition.

I am quoting from Angela Lear - "Note: A possible explanation for all of the variants was given by Prof. Eigeldinger: Chopin was unhappy about his Nocturne being played badly by amateur pianists in the Paris salons as it became extremely popular - so he added some difficult embellishments in the hope of preventing them from playing the piece!"

Other information I found. The variants were written for various students of Chopin's: Camilla O'Meara (Madame Dubois), Jane Stirling, Ludwika Jędrzejewiczowa, and Zofia Rosengardt (Madame Zaleska).
