I bought a pair of those little loudspeakers, they are quite powerful and I really like the acoustic piano sound from my FP7F through them.

Unfortunately, they already have had 2 failures :

- only 10 days after receiving them, one Zxa1 made awful crackles, noises, same with the input volume competely turned to the left. So this one have been replaced.

- Now, after 4 months of gentle use, one Zxa1 delivers bass and medium only, the treble have gone !
I'm waiting for it to be repaired.

Are there other people here who have problems with these EV ?
I love them, but think they aren't reliable.
Before, I used Rcf art 310 A, and then Bose L1 Compact : never had problem with them.

No problems with my pair. I've only had them for about 10 months with fairly light use.
I don't suppose you know if it is the same one with 2 problems or if both speakers have had problems.

It sounds like you might be overloading them. You note that they are powerful. Everyone else that recommends these do so with noting that they are not as loud as others. Do you have the bass control turned up? Do you play in a group?

I think it's not the same which had a problem, because they replaced the first one with a brand new one, it's the store's politics if there is a problem within 30 days.

I don't push them loud : I play classical music on my Digital Piano with 1 lyric singer.
There isn't bass control on EV Zxa1 !
However you can activate a 100hz crossover, if use with a subwoofer. I don't have a subwoofer, so I let the bass ring.
But that's the treble which has gone, the bass is still there !

Aren't these EV protected by a limiter, if overloaded ? I think so.

thanks,
I hope they won't fail anymore when it'll be repaired, 2 times are already too many.
