Hello smile
There is a couple of song list around on the internet for interval memorization, but they have some holes in them so I decided to compile my "own" list and so far it goes pretty well:

Minor second: The Pink Panther Theme
Second: Major Scale or Frère Jacques (Bruder Jakob)
Minor Third: Greensleeves
Major Third: When the Saints
Perfect Fourth: Amazing Grace
Diminished Fifth / Augmented Fourth: Maria (West Side Stories)
Perfect Fifth: Star Wars Theme
Minor Sixth: Manhã de Carnaval
Major Sixth ... here is the problem smile
Minor Seventh (to be found)
Major Seventh (to be found)
Octave: Somewhere over the Rainbow

I was thinking of a song by Dire Strait, I can play the melody by ear, it goes like that (in C) : C-A-A-A-C(up one of octave from the first)-A-C-D-E-D-C-A-A-G-A-C-A-A-G-A-C-F-G-A-F-C-D-F-A-G-F-F, but I can't remember the title frown Does someone has any idea what it could be ? smile

Other ones that work:

Minor 6th: Entertainer or She's a woman (Beatles)
Minor 7th: StarWars theme or Somewhere from West Side Story
Major 7th: Take on me

For minor 2nd: Jaws
Minor 3rd: Smoke on the water

I have more trouble with descending...ideas?

Theme to "Local Hero." smile (I am a huge Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits fan. One of the best concerts I ever went to was a solo show by Knopfler a couple of years ago.)

Thank you very much Monica smile I am also a big fan of Dire Straits and I went through my CD collection before asking but I didn't think of check Mark alone (blush). Knopfler is awesome, just the right note at the right time to touch your heart, no useless virtuosity (but he is a virtuoso), no attempt to impress with speed, a true musician smile
Again thank you very much Monica smile

An understandable confusion... he wrote the soundtrack while still a member of Dire Straits, and they used to play it as an encore in their concerts. It's on at least one of their live albums. smile

imho, Mark Knopfler is one of the greatest guitarists there ever lived, second maybe only to Joe Bonamassa.

I'm compiling a descending list. So far I have:

Minor 2nd: Chopin Prelude Op 28 No 11
Major 2nd: Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No 3, first movement, second theme (it's all I could think of laugh )
Minor 3rd: Chopin Prelude Op 28 No 23 (right hand)
Major 3rd: Chopin Prelude Op 28 No 15 (melody)
Perfect 4th: Chopin Prelude Op 28 No 2 (melody)
Augmented 4th:
Perfect 5th:
Minor 6th:
Major 6th:
Minor 7th:
Major 7th:
Octave: 3rd movement of Bach's Italian Concerto (melody)

Feel free to add to my list: these are very hard to come up with (most pieces start with an ascending interval), especially the larger ones.

Another huge Mark Knopfler fan here. Been to a couple of his concerts, and had the fortune to hear this live. Just Knopfler & Guy Fletcher -- it was unbelievable.
