The system is not that hard to maintain, so why remove it? All you need do is ask yourself three questions to maintain it.

Is the green light on? If so, all is well.

Is the yellow light on? If so, add a can of water with one cap of treatment.

Is the red light on? If so, add a can of water and see if the red and yellow lights both go off. (Some units do not have the red light which tells you that the pads for the humidifier are crusted with minerals and need to be replaced or need to be cleaned off enough to function again.)

The piano's system is likely a more steady and accurate controller of the interior humidity of the piano than the whole room system you now have.
