I'm thinking of buying a barely-used Casio CTK-150 (a craigslist deal, which is why I'm so wary!) but the model appears to be so old that the internet knows nothing about it. I'm getting it for my boyfriend's birthday, just something he can play with and learn on and something that's small enough to take to college. I know bare-minimum about keyboards, so I was hoping to find someone familiar with this little guy!

I'm going to check the keyboard myself to make sure it works well before I buy, but is there anything I should know? Anything I should look for?

Judging from the pictures I saw, it does seem quite old. Probably does not have the best sound quality and may sound more like a toy. You didn't mention if your boyfriend plays keyboards or if he is a piano player. If he plays piano then you should know the keys aren't weighted. Keyboard keys have a light touch and are spring loaded. He won't be able to properly control his playing. If on the other hand, it's just for messing around, then it might be alright.

I guess I just assumed that since I couldn't find reviews that it was an older model. The little playing he has done has been on a keyboard, so I'm not worried too much about the feel and how it compares to a real piano. I am hoping for something better than a toy, though. Thanks so much for your reply!

Dear Amy,
I have a CTK 100. I dont like it, even like a toy. I gave it away who want to play with it. but like you said its a toy. i did not learn much with it.

if you really want to buy him some thing, i guess its not this. i would not do it.

cheers. Happy Celebrations smile
