I sometimes record either on a CD or a tape - my current progress on the piano to see whether or not
a piece sounds acceptable or whether I could improve it here or there...

...and I wonder if anyone knows how to transfer one of the pieces I have played & recorded on my CD
and how to "transfer" it from my CD to the computer and from there on to PW?

I am not quite "au fait" with the technicalities of computers - and I would like to find out.

Does anyone know how to go about this or is it technically not possible?

Thanks from Kristina.

Hi Kristina, why record on a CD and not on the hard drive of your computer?

Anyway, you can take the CD, put it in your computer, import it in some music software such as iTunes, and you'll get AAC or MP3 files that you can upload on the Internet and link from this forum. I think CD files are not compressed and therefore too big to upload, you need to create mp3 files from them.

This is just to give you a broad idea.

Actually it would be easier to record directly into the computer. Do you have an acoustic piano or a digital?

I don't understand what's your problem... You can record a piece to a CD but you can't "transfer" it to PW...?

Anyway, Google this: "convert CD to MP3"

the transfer process from CD to computer is called "ripping". Just google that word to get instructions.
Learning piano starts by taking all your confidence and then over many years drip feeding it back to you smile

Thank you, sinophilia for the helpful ideas...
...My piano is not digital, but a very old and very fragile
acoustic piano which needs regular tuning and lots of TLC.

Thank you, Carlos CC, I have googled "convert CD to MP3" and I have to study it...
... of course I know how to record my progress of playing on my piano on tape/CD...
...and I have recorded many of my "ancient" Vinyl's on either a tape
or a CD long before I started to learn and play the piano...
I thought that was a practical way to take my favourite recordings with me
and listen to them in the car etc...

Thank you, earlofmar, I have googled "ripping"
and the process has become a little clearer. Thanks again.
