Have located a Landsdowne Piano, serial #4879, cabinet excellent condition, know that the piano has not been played for years, few keys do not work. Can't find much information regarding this brand, except it was a very short partnership between Nordheimer and Heintzman when they first started out, if this is correct.

I have an appreciation for antiques, and have a desire to find and fully restore a old piano, in attempt to preserve the memory of the golden age of pianos. I have a great piano, so my antique would be played a few hours each week and enjoyed for what it once was.

I would appreciate any comments and knowledge of this piano as a possible candidate for restoration, before I contact a tech.

Hi Sabrina:

The Lansdowne piano was made in a factory on Lansdowne Ave. in Toronto. It
was a partnership with Abraham and Sam Nordheimer and Mason from Mason and Risch. The factory later became the Nordheimer factory where they made their pianos.

It is a well built and designed piano, but its condition would need to be assessed to see if it is a viable restoration candidate as it is at least 115 years old.

Hope this helps,

Steve

Hi Steve:

An opinion from you who obviously has an appreciation for vintage pianos is what I was hoping for when I made my post.

I have looked at various old pianos, but there is something about this piano that intrigues me. Feel it is worth the cost for a tech to give me a quote for complete restoration.

A bit disappointed that Heintzman wasn't part of it, as he and Nordheimer were in Canada the best-of-the-best pioneers.

Thanks so much for your reply,
