Hi can anyone enlighten me, i saw a kawai us 50, manufacture in 1982, serial no start from 131...... Inside the piano looks relatively new compare to all the yamaha i have seen. That make me doubtful though the sound produced is beautiful. Dealer claim they imported from japan, but how to tell? Does Kawai company do recondition job for all their piano? If no, who did it? Can we trust they use kawai parts? Is it possible for unscupulous dealer to change the whole music action and sell you as kawai piano? pls advise. thanks

Please help me. I went to two 2nd hand piano dealers in singapore. Dealer A coded me kawai us50 (31 years old) at S$3800 and Dealer B coded me kawai us50 (27 years old) at S$3900. Both looks very new inside and the sound is ok. Both claimed they imported from japan and japanese can really take care of the piano that is why they looks very new. However i went Robert piano(singapore kawai authorised agent) today, the salesmen claims that some dealers can change the whole music action to a china music action and what i bought may be the shell of kawai us 50. Is this possible? What do you think? Worried as i have placed a deposit with one of the dealer. Thanks for your advice.

Kawai makes quality pianos and it's not unusual to find a thirty year old piano that is still very clean on the inside. Always get an independent piano tuner/technician's evaluation before buying a used piano. If the deal looks too good to be true, it usually is.

Make sure you can get replacement parts for this piano in your area. The technician should know.
