Has anyone ever had personal experience at a lesson or masterclass with Mr. Biss? If so, what can you say about his teaching style?

P.S.
If you haven't read the biography on his website, you must! It's one of the most amusing bits of piano literature I've seen lately!

ha ha ha

Thanks for drawing attention to that. smile

I'd be interested to study with him, or even just to hang out grin ....based only on that great bio (which I'd guess he wrote himself).

BTW, it makes reference to a piece that I think is the same as what we here think of as "Kreisler's Piece in C." I have half a mind to sue.....

I have seen him at a masterclass with Barenboim rather than teaching himself (no, not live, on YouTube), but he seems to be a very pleasant person, so I would definitely like to have him as a teacher.

Based off his biography, I'd love to take a lesson or two with him. Hahaha. Made me smile today, so that's a plus!

I'm signed up to that, and really looking forward to it. Have you had any previous experience with Coursera? I've read the section on "How It Works" but it's pretty vague. Sorry! Didn't mean to hijack the thread.

Jonathan Biss... right... he's not a terrible pianist smile

Thanks for the info, Cassiesmom. I signed up, too. Biss is a wonderful pianist and a very interesting writer.

Last summer at SummerKeys, I had several enjoyable and productive lessons with Jonathan's uncle, Gregory Biss. If a gift for teaching runs in the family, this should be a terrific course!
