Hello friends,

Based on seeing similar announcements previously, I am assuming it is ok to post this. I posted this in the piano forum section as well, but I know there are many here who don't spend much time there.

On Saturday, May 18th, at 8 PM, Dr Choong Mo Kang will be performing at PianoCraft. Udo Steingraeber will also be in attendance. There will be a reception at 7 PM and a meet and greet after the concert.
There are a limited number of tickets still available, and I am sorry I am just posting this now at this late date.
Of course, around here, Udo Steingraeber is well known, but for those of you not familiar with Dr Choong Mo Kang, he is the most recent addition to the major piano faculty at the Juilliard school. Among his many accomplishments, he has performed all of Bach's keyboard music. Dr. Kang's Goldberg Variation recording is amazing, and that is coming from someone who pretty much worships Glenn Gould's 1955 Goldberg recording.

If you are interested in coming, please contact me as there are only a few tickets remaining.

Here is a link to more info on the event:

I hope to see you there! It should be quite an evening.

What a fabulous concert this was! Dr, Kang is both astonishingly accomplished at the technical level and also amazingly musical. It was a treat watching and listening to such a gifted artist in such a welcoming, intimate performance space.

I was intrigued that the whole second half of the program was Rachmaninoff -- that's not the type of repertoire I would have most associated with the Steingraeber sound (which I love). Others know much more about this than I do, but when I think of Rachmaninoff, I think of the Steinway-type "cloud of sound."

At least as played by Dr. Kang, Rachmaninoff on this Steingraeber E-272 was a treat. Again, I'm no expert, but I've never heard the clarity, articulation, and separation of the complex lines in those pieces the way I did tonight. I'm sure being there, only a few feet from the performer, added to that experience.

I also enjoyed meeting Udo Steingraeber. He's an inspiring man, and I imagine it's a great experience working with him.

Our thanks to PianoCraft for arranging and hosting this great event.
