I'll be in Chicago on business later this week and would pay any reasonable charge to have a couple of hours' access to a decent acoustic piano on Thursday morning or afternoon.

I googled the topic and didn't find any leads.

Anyone familiar with a practice room/piano rental-by-the-hour operation?

The Harold Washington Library, which is at the south end of the Loop, has free practice rooms with pianos. You can only use them for one hour, however. Go the eight floor in the library and find the sign up desk. It's first come first serve, and if they are all busy, you wait until one becomes available. Given the 1 hour limit, you never have to wait more than 20-30 minutes, but usually you get a room much quicker.

Interesting, JJO -- thanks. I was hoping for a bit more time, and maybe on a grand, but the library pianos would be a lot better than no pianos if that's the best option I can find.
