This is the title of a play, currently running in Chicago. If you live withing driving distance, run to see it this month before it closes. If not, hope it opens in your city.

It tells the true life story a Jewish woman who escapes Austria just on the eve of WWII, and becomes a concert pianist. It's a one woman show, mostly told from the seat of a Steinway grand, as the character plays music appropriate to the story. What makes this even more amazing is the "actress" (Mona Golabek)is the daughter of the woman the show is about; she is telling her mother's story.

I can't imagine anyone on here (except, perhaps, some who hate classical music) who wouldn't find this an extremely powerful piece of theater.

Thanks for letting us know about this. I know that I'll be looking for things about it, especially performances I could see.

I actually read the book a few years ago. Very riveting story. Wish I could see the play.
