I use this Polk subwoofer I use with my ES7 sometimes. http://www.polkaudio.com/products/psw111

It's small but WAY powerful - almost too much. Sound is very clean and tight. Not as muddy or boomy as you might expect. Great for 8" woofer and box is slim size in comparison to others. Just add a touch of base when needed.

I got it on NewEgg as well for $199. I think because it might be discontinued , but I still see it for sale everywhere

The most important spec on any speaker, including subwoofers, is the %THD. The lower, the better. If the harmonic distortion is more than a few percent, it will sound boomy. A Velodyne DD15 or 18 will max out below 1/2 percent. You'll never hear the subwoofer unless there is real energy at the lower frequencies, but, it will cost you a bundle.

thank you marco and mwm.

@marco it is a little more than what i want to spend right now, thanks for the suggestion though. smile

@mwm i don't see %thd listed on the specs of the model i was inquiring about. Safe to assume that particular model is not good for digital pianos?

I'm just really liking the price of it.

Any sub will work. It is just what type of sound you are looking for. I used to run my Clavinova through my Kef Reference speakers and the Velodyne sub, which mace it sound like a 9 foot in the room. I am running the Kefs at 500 watts and the Velodyne has a dynamic power output of 3000 watts at 1/2 percent distortion. Very loud.
