I was talking to someone today about a 6' Vos grand piano they have for sale. He's not sure of the age. Possibly 50 years old. Does anyone have any insight into whether these were good pianos. He is only asking 1950.00 C$ which is really cheap around here.

Thanks,

Wilf

Are you sure it is not "Vose & Sons"?

I've never had any experience with one, but have read they can be nice pianos...

Regardless of the seemingly low price, I'd have it checked out by a qualified piano tech.

Good luck!

Rick

Vose and Sons is sometimes misidentified as Bose and Sons due to the font used on the logo. I've yet to see it mistaken as simply "Vos"

However if it is a 50 year old Vose and Sons, it would be a product of the Aeolian American corp, like so many other pianos from that era.

The pre-depression Vose and Sons grands are the instruments on Fine's "restoration list", and in the hands of a talented rebuilder they can be a truly excellent instrument.
