Hi Piano Buffs
I was auditing pianos in the US and I tried a new C.Bechstein upright which was fantastic but was out of my price range. I have been hankering for one so I did not end up buying a piano.

I started a job in Australia and tried a Bechstein A1 upright which is around my price range. The dealer wants 21K USD after much haggling .The piano is great better than most grands I tried here in Australia ( in my price range)and I am wondering if I can get it cheaper in the US . I have a relocation door to door consignment which means my shpping is paid for. Will the journey in a container impact the piano ?

Does anyone know approximately how much a new Bechstein A1 goes for? I just need a sense if they have been marked up too much in Australia.

I really like the piano...

Thanks All

I find most of the high end European brand are marked up WAY too much in Australia. Though the Kawais and Yamahas are comparable in prices if you know where to shop.

Lets see. The recommended maximum price for that bechstein is around 21k so I say you can get it cheaper in the US.
