I believe the installation disc might be necessary, which I do not have. Connected up the USB cable from piano to computer. Zilch. No recognition at all at all. Fiddled wi the MIDI and computer stuff on the keyboard; still nothing. Now, I`ll attempt to acquire a disc from the net unless I`m told there`s no need.
I have a Pianoteq download on my lappie just rarin` to go . . .AAAAAARGGGHH!!!!!!! Too bloody old for this . . . But I`ll get there . .

Are you plugging into DGX 630's type B usb connector?

I sure am. Not a scrap o` recognition. I had a 620 from new a few years ago; that took the disc OK. But when I tried it a short while ago, it was out of date and wouldn`t deliver correctly. I couldn`t upgrade it either, for the same reason. I wonder if this is a Yamaha quirky problem in general? Same if it is . . That Casio`s looking better by the minute!

Download from the same site for my 620, works for me with windows 7. Didn't work initially, then found out that I have to plug into the square(type B) connector instead of the rectangular one.

That`s interesting; I tried the square connector into the computer usb socket and I got a sound. And a notice which said no drivers were found . . . . so I went to the piano shop and questioned the geezer who was around. I got the Yamaha Guru`s name and number. Which is as good as it gets at that shop . . .!

- is the strangeness anything to do with the latency you were getting, or have you sorted that out?

It probably has much to do with latency (I used to play a pipe organ, and latency was built-in! It was also built into the choir lol) but I also have to use much pressure on the keys to vary the volume. I`m still fiddling with it , velocity curves and all that. There is much to fiddle with . . . My wife says "Rome`s burning . . " or words to that effect. And She Must Be Obeyed . .
