Hi -

Its been a long time since I posted here. I need to move my piano and am looking for recommendations for movers in the NYC area. The piano was delivered by crane and will probably (though not definitely) need to be removed that way.

Thanks!

I'd call the major piano stores and ask who they recommend, and mention the crane. I had some moving done by people Altenburg's uses, but your job is much more involved. The guys from Beethoven's seemed a little weird.

My Mason was moved in by people from New England, so that won't help you.

Jon, this might be a dumb question, but why not re-use whomever moved it in for you?

Because I don't know who it was and the dealer who sold it to me isn't in business anymore.

Whenever I`m in New York I stay at an hotel called the Waldorf Astoria and they are always very helpful about putting a piano into my suite so perhaps they might be able to give you the name of their movers?

Jon, didn't you buy your Bosie direct from the NY dealer? At that time the dealer was Gerhard Feldmann, and you might contact him. He's still around. I'll bet he could tell you who originally moved your piano.

I have his contact info in an old PM somewhere and will get it to you.

Have had good luck with Kunis piano movers.

Perhaps they could talk you through the measurements they'd want to determine if craning is the best option.

Thanks, all. I'll try to find Gerhard and if not check out Kunis.

Rich - do you know if they can get access to a crane if necessary?

And, please post photos of your crane move! It's always exciting to see these.

I asked, and they replied they recommend Auers Moving and Rigging if it needs to be craned.
