#2092023 - 05/30/13 10:17 AM Kawai K-6 piano has "gee gee" sound on some of the keys

The Kawai K-6 was purchased brand new on December last year in New Jersey. We have been hearing more echo sound since March. We have it tuned 3 weeks ago. Now the past few days, some of the keys have "gee gee" sound when pressed down. Not all the keys, some of them. One G note is very obvious. Anyone has any idea with this? It happens that this few days are humid. Company said they will send a tech out.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Is there an "eff eff" sound when you play F?

Sound more like 'tee'. She said F at the lower octave and the one G also has the sound of "tee". Not eff eff.

Maybe like a metallic click? The company technician should be able to figure it out. Good luck.

Maybe the piano is telling you to play the horses!

Is the sound coming from the action, rather than the strings? If so, it is probably something that just requires minor lubrication.

My daughter said it is more like BUZZ sound on that one G note!!! We start hearing this only since few days ago. I hope it is coming out from action. The store is sending out just the tuner to see if it can be fixed next Tue instead of a very high qualified technician as the first step. Can humidity be the reason? NJ is raining more this past one week.

One more thing, we notice our wood floor where the piano sit on is not completely flat. As the result, one caster is NOT firmly touched the floor while the other three casters are. Will that cause issue too?

Please be very careful when you play the F as if it should play 'ff' or even 'fff' you may get a headache or even hearing loss.

EGH6, Kawai K-6 is a great piano, I am sure you will love it. I suspect my house environment (temp, humidity) is affecting the piano a bit the first year:-(

If one caster is not touching the floor, it's possible that there could be a sympathetic vibration coming from the wheel. Try putting a shim under the wheel, like a folded business card or something.

Zeno Wood, I did as you told. The F note closer to the caster (at the lower octave) no longer has a hiss/buzz sound. But the G note at one octave higher than the middle C still has the hiss/buzz sound.
Should I remove the hardware and paintings on the wall where the piano is close to?
Thanks.

That's great!

It all depends on whether or not it's a sympathetic vibration coming from somewhere outside of the piano. If that's the case, then have someone play the note over and over while you try to find whatever it is in the room that's buzzing.

If it's coming from something INside the piano, then you'll have to wait for the technician.

They usually charge extra for that feature.

Call your dealer; A little squirt of lubricant will probably take care of it.

(Never mind. I see you already called your dealer.)
