Some of you may know that my cat of 17 years passed away recently. I worked on this Song Without Words Op 30 No 1 by Mendelssohn because it really seemed to fit how we feel about him. He had lots of personality and really enjoyed listening to the piano. I played this song for him on his last day, and I was able to record it on the Petrof.

It's obvious he was much loved. Now I'm going to go to bed in tears.

So sorry for your loss. They take a piece of your heart with them when they leave.

What beautiful music. What a beautiful video. Thank you for this tribute to your wonderful cat, filled with love and memory.

So sorry for your loss. The pictures tell of the love he was fortunate to have been blessed with. Thanks for sharing those as well as your music.

Our pets give us so much when they are here, but leave a painful emptiness when they are gone. Having just recently, lost a much loved pet of fifteen years, I know how hard it is to say goodbye.

Ah, a soft and fluffy black cat. I have had a black cat for much of the past twenty years. They have a way of touching your soul. My Lance, who passed away two years ago, looked very much like yours.

A beautiful serenade. Thank you.

BTW, he didn't seem to mind water, did he. I loved the shot of him between the two pools.

Thank you everyone. It has been tough on us, but we have no regrets and hope he is happy where he is now. These little furry guys find a way into our hearts like none other, I think.

LOL! He minded when one day he fell in! I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm sure you have the find memories like we do to hold on to.

I understand how you feel. I haven't lost a pet since I was a child, and so I thought as an adult I'd be able to handle it better. Nope!

This really sums it up, I think. I do feel like I've lost a part of me with his passing. But I am so happy he was with us, and I will see him again smile. The sorrow is just temporary then.

Such a touching and poignant tribute to your beloved Panda. And you were very brave to have been able to play and record this piece for him on his last day. I, too, have lost my sweet 15 year-old cat last February; in fact, on the very day the ABF recital I participated in was opened. He also loved to listen while I practiced and played that it took me a good two months to touch the keys once again. It just felt so empty playing while sensing his absence on the rug or chair near the piano. But time heals everything, and I am certain this will be true for you as well. Psychological studies do show that it takes longer for adults to rebound from a loss than children do. My best wishes for you and your family. Your playing is very beautiful and I love Panda's photo montage.

Thank you for your kind words. While I did play this for him on his last day, I wasn't recording it then. I did the recording later, just before we left FL for the summer. I'm pretty sure my playing was pretty bad that day wink

What a gorgeous cat. They are all so different from one another and so special. He was lucky to have such a long life in a loving family.

He obviously had a wonderful life. Thank you for sharing this--one of my favorite Songs without Words too.

I lost a little cat after 17 years last year. She was sweet (didn't care about piano in the slightest, though!).

I got teary-eyed as well. But I began to smile as I watched, because I recognized that glint in Panda's eyes. The one that says, "I am the center of this universe, and I do no wrong. What is it that you want?"
The happiest of cats possess it, and you and your husband gave it to Panda. I'm so sorry for your loss, but I'm so happy you had your time together!

I am so sorry for your loss. He was obviously well loved. Your musical tribute to him was so beautiful and moving. I also have a black kitty who seems to love listening to the piano. He often hops up on the bench and sits next to me when I am practicing.

I'm so sorry to hear about Panda. Your playing was beautiful and a lovely way to honour your (ongoing) relationship with your kitty friend. (because relationships continue even when the person--cat or human--isn't right there with us). I love your kitty's eyes! I will think of him now each time I play Mendelssohn 30/1!
