OP Maximillyan 3000 Post Club Member Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 3,713 KZ, Uralsk	Instrument made in 1777 by German designer Andrew Burn, a music student at Carleton, helped to raise the $10,000 in funds to restore the university's 234-year-old fortepiano. Carleton.ca It's said be Canada's oldest working piano and it's striking the right chord with Ottawa music lovers. Concert goers at the city's Chamber Music Festival got to hear what history sounds like when Frederic Lacroix tickled the ivories of the 234-year-old instrument. It was the square fortepiano's first public performance since it was restored through a project led by music professors at Carleton University. The piano was made in 1777 by Frederick Beck, a German instrument maker who moved to London during the Seven Years War and the reign of George III. Only a handful of Beck's instruments still exist, dating from 1772 to 1778. The restoration cost $10,000, which was raised mainly through fundraising and donations from Carleton alumni.
