Hello everybody,

I have been using Roland RP301 for 2 years. RP301 has really heavy keys, playing a fast song is hard for me on these heavy keys. They are also very noisy. Keys are actually making more noise than the low volume piano sound. Sounds of RP301 are also not pleasant anymore for my ears.

So I decided to buy a new piano.

Summing up I'm looking for a piano which has:
- Light/soft feeling keys (Because RP301's are too heavy)
- Keys should not be noisy (Because RP301's are very noisy)
- Pleasant paino sounds.

I tried Kawai CS6 in a local store here in Istanbul/Turkey, and I really liked it. I also tried Kawai CS3 and its keys was not that great as CS6.

Also Kawai CS6 is very beautiful looking piano, but the problem is that Kawai CS6 is a bit expensive. I'm looking for a cheaper suggestion. Kawai CS7 is released recently, its not available in here yet, but I hope CS6's price will drop.

What is you guys suggestion? Which piano should I try?

Hello burakcalik,

The CA63 has very similar specifications to the CS6, but without the polished ebony cabinet. It may still be available in your country for a reduced price.

There is also the CA65, but that is a current-generation model, so will probably more expensive.

If you like how Kawai feels (I also do) and you need specifically a lightweight keyboard and an affordable price, you may take a look to the CL series.

Of course how a keyboard feels like (just like everything else in life, I guess) is a matter of perception and a very subjective matter. But I'm quite surprised you find lighter and easier the CS-6 action than the RP-301's one, which is considered to be of the lightest weighted ones in the market.

If you liked the CS-6 action, you could try the CA-15, which has just the same but even a bit improved action.

Ok thank you very much, I will try CA65 and CA63.
I'm not sure about CA15 but I will give it a try too.

Is there any equivalent ones for other brands? Yamaha, Roland etc?

Since you dislike the heavier action of your current Roland, I wouldn't recommend going with another Roland. Yamaha has a lighter action and would be worth comparing to the Kawais.

As to which one would be in your price range, I'm not sure. How much did you want to spend?

Try the Roland FP7; You might get a bargain, cos it`s been replaced by something not much better by all accounts. The action on that seems good to me; wish I had it on my piano!

Price ranges may be different in Turkey. Maximum amount must be the Kawai CS6's price, which is about 3800 USD / 2800 EUR in here.

My concern with the Roland FP-7 or FP-7F is that the action is heavy, and that was the main complaint of the OP on his current Roland.

Is there any way you can just try these out before purchasing?

Thank you guys for your suggestions, Of course I can try these out before purchasing, and I will try all of your suggestions.
But I'm not really going to buy Roland FP7 because it does not satisfy my eyes grin It would make a feel like downgrade.

Both of those boards have relatively light actions, and very playable too, in my personal opinion. Some of the cheaper Roland boards have a more sluggish action, that I guess could feel heavier.

Indeed, the Roland PHA III action (fp-7f and 700NX) is light and that is why I like it so much.

Indeed, the Roland PHA III action (fp-7f and 700NX) is light and that is why I like it so much.
Interesting. Is the action from the FP-7 different from the FP-7f?

touch is quite the same but PHA III has 3rd sensor additionally.
