These type o` piano ensembles are more popular than I thought; Youtube`s full of `em. So they bring out the 650. Nice; our piano shop has the info and is ready; that`s why the 640s are going for £475 new.. . . .Don`t know if they`re being sold yet, or just promoted. Anybody got one? Thoughts?

It looks pretty good for that arranger niche. I'm kind of split on arrangers... they are fun to play and can give you some pretty decent backing tracks, but sometimes it's more like they are playing you.

Here are the specs from the manual:

My honest opinion, peter. These DGX's are just an overgrown toy. Yes, the keyboard is good enough. Sounds probably good enough. It's just....good enough. My impression is that Yamaha made it just good enough to be a good seller. It's built to catch buyers. When it's really just another toy.
I'm not a fan of these arrangers anyway.

Hello rnaple. Others have said the same as yourself, I`m sure. I don`t quite nderstand why, apart from the appearance of the thing. It has two decent - and different - piano samples which apparently is one more than the FP7F. It will record a song with 5 separate tracks. Which is three more than the FP7F . . .

My first DGX impressed me amongst all the others in the shop. There was some expensive stuff in there; I bought it on sond, not price nor have I regretted doing so. It`s a distinctive sound and it handles Pianoteq well if needed. And the keyboard is bullet proof.

Not bad for £425 new (shop damaged . . .)

Plinky, it`s got a new sound engine . . . dunno whether that`s good or bad. Guess I`ll find out when it arrives in the shop!

I didn't hear anything in the demos that stood out, either good or bad, so please let us know what you think. It don't see a date for them to be stateside - looks like you may get them first.

FP7F can't really be compared to DGX-650...it's in a different class and although it lacks a few things that the DGX can do, it makes up for it in MANY other ways.

FP7F is no doubt a better machine; better playing action, better connectivity and samples. But it lacks things it should have; like multi track recordins. Even multiple songs are consigned to good ole USB . . . AND there is no three pedal integrated option; just a free standing lonely looking ugly thing that gets stamped on now and again . . The piano samples are good enough. Run o` the mill? Certainly not distinctive.
Maybe the new DGX650 is also undistinctive now that it has a new Engine within . .
Sorry Keegan; just noticed you have the Roland . . . blush
