hello guys, im new, and, pardon me if I misspell words, my key board is weird, but, I need some help with the piano piece commonly known as, "The Entertainer", by Scott Joplin, the song book im playing it from Is jane smisor bastien's piano for adults book 1 the green book, I have just about all of it down except for a few measures, the fingering is really throwing me off, for the left hand, and doesn't make much sense. if you need any images, please ask, and I will gladly supply them, thanks, tyler.

You really need to indicate exactly where and which hand you need suggestions for. Even better, post some pictures of the measures in question. Don't expect anyone here to spell out the complete fingering of the entire piece wink

To post an image, the key as you have mentioned is to get the image on a website somewhere so you have a URL for it. One way to do that is as follows:

Go to the Piano World upload page. (If you forget where it is, just google "Piano World upload" and it's the first result.) Follow the directions to upload your image.

After you click "Submit Form" you will come to a page with an error message. Ignore the error message and check your email for an email with the link for your uploaded image. Use that link in your post to Piano World.

Another way to do it (one that I use fairly often) is to find a PDF of the score somewhere on the Internet (usually this site), take a screenshot of the measure(s) in question, upload the screenshot to an image-hosting website, and then insert the image into my post using that link.

So the issue is what exactly? The LH fingering doesn't seem to be too complex.

Doesn't it say to just do 1-3-5 on everything?

The second chord is misidentified. The lowest note is not D. What is the lowest note actually, you may ask? Compare it carefully to the chord just before it and see if that suggests the answer.

Tyler, can you edit your post to just include a link to the pic instead of the pic itself? It seems to be causing the page to be unnaturally and exasperatingly wide. Thanks.

Obviously two identical chords cannot be different. Both chords are F-Ab-C, or F minor root position triads. Is that what you were having trouble with?

Tyler, you cross-posted with me. Check my post two posts up from me.

If you can SEE that the two chords are the same, then wouldn't that suggest that the letters written in have gone wrong somewhere?

[cross-posted again]

Tyler, did you write the letters in or did someone else?

If you wrote them in, you would benefit from learning more ways to check your work for reasonableness. Two identical chords with different letters written in is not reasonable.

If someone else wrote them in, you would benefit from learning how to identify notes for yourself, so you are not at the mercy of someone else's mistakes.

Do you have any propects to learn to read music without writing the letter names in?

I believe you have mislabeled the second chord in the first measure, which is the same as the first one in the left hand (FAbC).......looks like you have written in DAbC.

edited to update for multiple responses:

Tyler it is F-Ab-C (BOTH). someone mislabeled the 2nd one.

Google is your friend.

I've said which letter is wrong. Polyphonist has said which is the correct set of letters. You will do yourself a gigantic service if you learn how to identify notes.

If you're not sure how to start learning how to identify notes, post that here and we will all chime in with a thousand competing ways to do it, but all in sincere hopes of helping you acquire a useful skill that will make learning music easier for you.

All right, we're just talking past each other now. Evidently the OP has missed the fact that I provided him with the correct identification of the chord more than 10 minutes ago.
