Dear colleagues,

I am seeking a Sinth with 6 octaves and light weighted keyboard.
(61 are not enough and 88 I already have).
The main propose of this instrument is to be used as master keyboard, but with the option to get instant sound.

Korg Krome seems to fit my needs – for orchestration (using VST collections), pop, rock and jazzy staff.
I am not going to perform on stage.
Just as a second keyboard to N1, but placed on my desc.

My question to those of you who has already tried Korg Krome 73 (or 61) is:
how solid is the key bed?
Can you compare it to the old M1, T-series, Karma etc.
(I had played for 2-3 years on M1 and it is brilliant instrument like Roland XP 80).

The reason of my query is because initially I was prepared to get some rather cheep Yamaha sinth (between €900-1500), but the feeling when man play on low cost Yamaha (MOX 6 and MX 61) is like a ... kids toy.

Considering the decent price of Krome, is the same or they kept their key beds as before – in one word – "Solid".

Any other ideas, even for other brand instruments, are welcomed.

Thank you

The Krome 61 & 73 key models have a issue that may or may not affect you. You will definitely have to try before you buy. The issue is the pivot point is set arbitrarily too close. So if you tend to play certain chords forward towards the back of the keys, some notes may not trigger at all. Where as if you play closer to the front of the keys you won't notice it at all. This is most noticeable on the black keys. Some people don't have an issue with it.

This issue also affects the King Korg and M50

Thank you very much, dear Kbeaumont,
this was really helpful.

I will go then for Yamaha XF 7 and "finito".
It will cost me 1/3 more than I was limiting my budget (about €2100 with the discount and without VAT).
So I will have enough time to reconsider.
The next option was KronosX 73, but IMHO, it is definitely overpriced, at least in EU.
Best regards,

I have the Krome 61 and am enjoying it- obviously for the sounds. I have it next to my Korg SP280.

They keybed is an improvement over the Korg Trtion LE which was too light; it is on par with my Juno Gi.

I find it more substantial than the MOX6; but in no way as good as the original Motif 6.
