<http://www.cbc.ca/thesundayedition/shows/2013/06/30/hour-2-1/> this is a 2-hour radio program about Glenn Gould live streamed in 2 parts. The first part is more conversation than music, but conversation that I found really fascinating. Each part is about 54 minutes.

Palmpirate & Cas, sorry, I just saw your posts now. If you go to <http://www.cbc.ca/thesundayedition/> & scroll down, you should find both episodes.

Gould is one of those pianists that tends to divide people into love & hate groups. I think as time develops, my personal opinion has become:

a) His terrible, terrible technique which may have contributed to his early death is something we can learn from. If Gould did it, that's not a good way.

b) His interpretations were significant in opening the door to other (better) ways of playing Bach. However, as time goes on we can see that, eek, perhaps they were good forerunners but they have now been surpassed.

c) Humming along to the piano is good for personal consumption but not so much for public.

Hmm, I guess it's rather obvious where I place Gould in the great pianist notebook ...

  • Debussy - Le Petit Nègre, L. 114
  • Haydn - Sonata in Gm, Hob. XVI/44
