I love this topic.
Congratulations Mr. Square, I would love to have the money to do the same "crazy" thing you did!
I bet it was thrilling when they got it inside.

And that was an impulsive buy? So you went to a shop looking for a new dvd, and instead you came home with a steinway? Hehe, I would love to do that!

Congrats on your beautiful grand!

That is awesome!
They may say that the best two days of owning something that flies or floats are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.
No-one will ever say that about a Steinway!
Many many wonderful hours ahead for you, enjoy!

In sickness and health, for richer for poorer, for better or worse may you love that piano every day. Your story makes me smile to think of how important a good instrument is to our lives. Great purchase! When I bought my new piano a few years back I realized that it truly was just a bit less than my last new SUV and I don't care all that much about cars...but the piano...the piano I stroke lovingly every day and miss her when I'm gone.

Well Mr. Square you are a smarter idiot than I am. You waited 3 months to get a grand piano; I bought one a lengthy 7 months after I began lessons, so missed out on a few months of playing my darling. I had a very well respected boss who died at a fairly young age; his widow said at his funeral that he had asked that one message be passed on from him: "Do not wait for retirement to do what you really want to do". I blame a lot of things on that man!

Congrats.

Cool video there PaperClip.

WiseBuff I turn 50 in September. The wife was going to buy me a Harley Davidson... I like the seat on the Steinway better.

ForsterGirl and to all the others that said life is short: I agree don't wait. I told my wife this piano was like a savings account. When I die she can get a large chunk of the money back. Let's hope I live long enough to break even...

Here is an update of the living room after two days of moving the TV, stereo, satellite connections etc and painting. Directly to the right of what you see the room is a 12' opening that leads to the dinning room/kitchen area.

So you have the couch facing its back towards the piano? Where will friends, you'll have invited, sit when you play the piano? Not onto that couch, I hope.

Your piano looks gorgeous. What a lovely room.

Could it be that we are forming the Idiot's Piano Club? We have one rule, fellow idiots: Always be grateful for buying your beast.

Well not that I will be inviting anyone to listen to me playing for some years to come, but I did want to ditch the TV and set up to low back Italian leather couches facing each other left and right in the picture... I was over ruled by SWMBO (she who must be obeyed). Oh well in a few years it will be time for furniture again.
