I found this piano at a dealer. He is offering to sell it for $9K. According to the dealer, he got it in an estate sale about 3 years after the death of the lady who loved it dearly. It has been tuned regularly and everything is in near mint condition. (I will have all of this checked out).

A couple of questions. Is this a fair price? Would I be better served to put that money towards a new Kawai instead, something in the 5 ft range.

If the piano is in pristine condition, it is not a bad price, but probably top used retail. I'm thinking the KG3 is like 6'1" or something like that. A new Kawai that size would be much higher in price; but it all depends on what you want and what you can afford.

Good luck!

Rick

According to the Kawai serial number dating, this piano was made in 1985. It could well be in pristine condition, but I would certainly have that opinion verified by an independent technician.

I am not sure if the OP has played the piano, but how well this 28 year old piano sounds and plays are also critical factors in making a decision.

Rick is correct in saying that it is a 6'1'' or 186cm grand piano; certainly a good size for a grand piano for home use.

Good luck,

Robert.
