We are looking to buy a small grand Piano (like baby grand). Wonder if there is any piano store along west cost with large selection of high-end Chinese as well as European Pianos side-by-side in same store. The point being the selection rather than 1 brand.

Any one of Chinese Pianos stands out in term of quality? we hear of Ritmuller to be the "best" ...?

Appreciate any advise / feedback specially from Piano technicians !

That's a bit of a contradiction.

Your location is essential to give any recommendations on stores.

Northern California (SF bay area) but I am willing to travel as I do often for my job along west cost.

I don't live in the SF Bay area. However, I do know of a couple of dealers there that carry both high-end European pianos and modestly-priced Asian ones:

R. Kassman, in Berkeley (Steingraeber, Bechstein, Grotrian, Sauter, Estonia, Brodmann, Ritmuller, etc.);

Piedmont Pianos, in Oakland (Bluthner, Fazioli, Mason & Hamlin, Yamaha, etc.); and

Colton Piano Gallery, in San Jose (Schimmel, Hailun, Weber, etc.).

P.S. - If you can visit Vancouver conveniently, you might try Heritage Pianos, in Surrey. (Sauter, Estonia, Brodmann, Hailun, Ritmuller, etc.)

Also, in the LA area try Kim's Piano, in Garden Grove. (Kawai, Shigeru Kawai, Petrof, Sauter, Seiler, Estonia, Pramberger, Mason & Hamlin, etc.)

R.Kassman in Berkeley would be a must-visit for you and is a member of this forum. They represent Ritmüller, Brodmann & Kayserburg. I'm actually not sure who represents Hailun & Weber in the Bay Area (ahh, that's right, Colton Piano). What other brands are on your list?

I would possibly have more time for this when I am in Seattle or LA as I stay 2-3 days at times.

R. Kassman in Berkeley for the assortment that you want. I got my piano from Russell last year.
Russell can be a bit unorthodox in his selling style (sorry Russell :-) ), but I could not have asked for a better dealer. He gave us a lot of time and help in selecting our piano, and he has stood by product post-sales that makes me confident recommending him.

I was also impressed by Carnes Piano in San Jose, but they did not have the selection that you are looking for (and I was too).

I did visit Colton for the Hailuns, but at that time they did not have Webers.

When you are in Seattle, if you can get to Stanwood, check out Fandrich & Sons. They will not have a huge selection but their uprights are very nice compared to some others. You will often find more pianos in the shop than the showroom. The shop is on the same property.

I alway enjoy my visits with them.

2 of the most genuine people in the industry.

Brodmann, Hailun, Kayserburg, Ritmuller and Weber are Chinese-made pianos that sound well, play well, are well-built, and have a "street price" (for the smaller grands) of less than $10,000. (Note: Kayserburg upright pianos are available in the U.S. right now, with the grands to arrive next year.)

Knabe, Pramberger, Boston, Kawai, Albert Weber & Yamaha are good Asian pianos that cost more than the Chinese brands mentioned above.

Estonia, Schimmel, and W. Hoffmann are medium-priced, high-quality European pianos.

Another vote for R Kassmann in Berkeley.

I purchased a Ritmuller form him approx 2 years ago - still ecstatic over my choice of piano and dealers!

Not to visit Kassman when living in the Bay area means not being interested looking at one of the best selections of pianos out.

Some his pianos are in a class of their one [Sauter,Grotrian,Steingraeber, C.Bechstein] others belong to class of pianos other dealers hope you'll never find - let alone "try":

Kayserburg, Kayserburg Artist, Ritmueller & Brodmann.

I did buy remotely, but I visited Russell in person to play the piano I purchased before buying.

I had a couple of minor issues that needed to be handled after delivery. They were taken care of by my local tech - Russell was extremely helpful with them.
