Hi everyone,

So I purchased the songbook for Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas is You, but it's piano/vocal/guitar.

I get that I'm supposed to just play the accompaniment, however I want to play the vocal/melody part in my right hand and then the chords in my left hand. In the example I attached:

3rd measure:

for the left hand should I just play G's in octave or should I combine the treble/bass cleft and make some sort of G chord (GBD)?

It seems a little complicated to combine all this stuff and music written for piano solo would seem a bit more straight forward.

Thanks!

Brian

Blimey man, pop is far more complex than classical! Every little nuance, quirk o` the voice is written in there. . . .Darned hard to make sense of it. Bet the live vocalist just does her own thing on the night. Well, I`m doin mine. And so should you!
Not much help am I?

Ya gotta hand it to peterws.....he's brilliant! smokin

I would go looking for a piano solo of this. There's probably some real nice arrangements of this out there. Otherwise you're trying to do the job of an arranger.

Hrm yeah that's what I was thinking. I may need to start out with a piano arrangement that I can find online.

Thanks!
