Aha... I was confused you mentioned the Triton pack next.

OK I got it - Please clear up the point above -Did you mean one has to globally change the bank references in global settings, since the M50 pack won't ask where to load it?

This is the method I used:
1. Press MEDIA
2. Scroll to M50PVKEY.PCG
3. Highlight M50PVKEY.PCG
4. Press Open (to highlight Programs)
5. Press Open (to highlight Bank E)
6. Press Open (to access the individual Programs)
7. Scroll to Program 96 (the first of the vintage EPs)
8. Press Load
9. Change the destination from E096 to F096 (or wherever you want to load it)
10. Press OK
11. Repeat these steps for each individual EP you wish to load (they are E096-E127 in the folder)

Like Dave F I love the CP5 but I just can't keep moving it around - I am lucky enough to have three gigs this weekend - and I shutter just thinking about it.

I have boxed up my Casio PX5S and will ship it back later today. Like Vox I loved the weight, controller features but the sound just didn't do it for me.

Trying to decide on a new gigging board - short listing the Nord Piano 2 and FP50...but went to Sam Ash and was impressed with the Yamaha P105...go figure. Also played around with the Korg Kronos - that is very impressive sounding.

If you decide to unload the CP5, let me know Ron. I think the Nord Piano 2 is a good alternative at this point in time. It is expensive though.

Thanks for the comprehensive explanation, I just forgot I could open, not load at once a PGC file. Will try it right now

I've not measured it personally, however I expect the ES7 keyboard sends the full range of velocity values, yes.

Kind regards,

Thanks, I expect th full range too, but as it is so important for me (I wouldn't be able to return the ES-7) I'd rather ask for some real experience up there.

Yes and yes ! I figure most of the people on this forum are on the same boat - at least the ones who want to take their gear for a ride on occasions. And my feeling is that the PX5s triggered some unrest in the Kawai , Roland legions to follow up on that and come out with such a board somewhere in the next product cycle. However , the wait is such a looooong and boring time , whilst having to fill the void with all kinds of temporary solutions like PX5's , Kromes 88 or other gear that every time is either not quite there in sound or keys (or both). A high-end , lightweight board with controls, super keybed (despite low weight) and the best sound a.s.a.p. please. Lets see what Namm will bring (sigh...)

I haven't tried the M1 stuff as, looking through the patch list, I didn't see much there that I would use. I believe that the M1 pack loads some new samples (presumably making use of the "secret" 32Mb sampling storage capability of the Krome). What's useful is that it seems you can audition the individual patches direct from your SD card without having to load them.

Could you provide a link for the B3 sounds purchase, I assume you purchased Organimation. What's your opinion of these patches versus what's already in the Krome? Worth $50?

M1 Pack is worth to try anyway, although it felt a little bit unbaked somewhere.

The most interesting progs IMO are:
F000 Universe - Ambient, the most remarkable from M1
F001 Piano 16' Classic M1 now it's like fresh
F046 Slap Bass - For years it has been recognized in many TV-sitcoms of 90's

The combi's:
D000 FilmScore - choirs and bells
D009 & Bass Piano - good for solo piano
D077 Sax Section - expressive, good for many uses
D089 Luna-Pad - FM-bells plus Analog strings

To be honest,I think I have to play with them more, but I find the Kromes easier to work with and adjust for now,

I found I was actually using the Triton bank more and keeping that one loaded. I am not convinced it was worth $50 at this point

Thanks, Possum - I think I'll give Organimation a miss for now.

I now have the M1 samples onboard, and playing around with the programs and Combis sure brings back memories! All they need to do now is give us the samples from the other early digital synths, such as the DW8000, and you really would have a poor man's Kronos then. This is a really excellent ROMpler for the money.

voxpops, are the samples multi-layered (i.e. better than the Nord sample library)?

Cheers,
James

Yes, James. The programs are multi-layered, and then the combis combine programs together as well. It's a comprehensive package, and of course there's pretty deep editing available if you're so inclined, which I'm not!

Sometimes I experiment and just change the B3 waveform used and get results more to my liking. The board sounds wonderful through KRK5's and I find myself inclined to play sounds I normally would not touch.
What would really be great would be an on board digital recorder like the Juno Gi- that is truly unique.
However, I just got my Lenovo new laptop this week so will be hooking up the UR22 sometime during the month.

I hope your Lenovo is better than mine. Mine pops the audio every minute or two.

Does the "pop" just happen with the Steinberg UR22 interface?
