Hi Everyone,

I would find it interesting to read some some thoughts on the recordings of Mary Siloti. Here we have:

an Anton Rubinstein Barcarolle

the Schubert G-flat Major Impromptu Op. 90 No. 3
with significant alteration that begins at about 2:05

and movement one of the Grieg concerto

And for those who have not heard him here is Alexander Siloti playing. Maybe one day a record label will release all the home recordings, or perhaps they may otherwise find their way to youtube.

The opening of the g minor Barcarolle reminded me greatly of Tchaikovsky's piece(June?) from the Seasons in the same key.

I love her expressive playing, listening to the Grieg concerto now.

I am a big Rachmaninoff fan, and so naturally anyone related to Alexander Siloti has my attention.

Also, people might enjoy hearing more recordings of Mary Siloti through here:

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, well, I suspect that the musical connection between Alexander Siloti and Tchaikovsky was more than with Siloti as just a music editor . . . as with the opening piano bars of Tchaikovsky's 1st piano concerto, there is a source somewhere which says this was Siloti's idea inspired off of one of the Anton Rubinstein piano concertos.
