Back from vacation. Missed my piano but was surprised to find a Kawai digital in one of the three vacation houses we were sharing with our friends. I couldn't play it much and certainly didn't practice so put me on the excused list from Sunday 7/7 to 7/14.

Back to normal tonight smile

  • Debussy - Le Petit Nègre, L. 114
  • Haydn - Sonata in Gm, Hob. XVI/44

I like it too. I don't remember who started it the first year (way before my time here, though I did read about it)...but it was , and is, a great idea!

W/e up at Whistler for the open air concert with Vancouver Symphony playing Mozart,
Mendellson and Dvorak. Full moon rising over the Rockies - couldn't be more romantic.
Had no idea where we were going. To airport, OK, to Vancouver,OK, from domestic through Int'l to coach stop - was is Victoria Ferry or Whistler? Got closer and ended up at the Fairmont where picnic was waiting in time for start . This guy has been hanging around for 40 yrs and still can surprise me! Guess he's a keeper!
By the way, I wish I had recorded my playing before we left . Hope I play as well when we get back.. Still have to make my Ecco fatto debutt!!

What a great surprise!! He's a keeper, for sure (but after 40 years, you already knew that!

Congratulations! Happy Anniversary!

I'm back from vacation (and just stayed 45 solid minutes at the piano).
I've been far from a keyboard from July 12th till yesterday, July 22nd. I had fun, but during rainy days - we had a couple of them- I missed my piano so much!

back home. it feels like they are all new pieces! I recorded myself just to hear what it sounded like. Mr Square inspired me to try just using my ipad. What a revelation. I've a lot of work to do. i am so heavy on the keys. But now I hear it I can change it. an hour a day is not enough but I don't know how consistent I can be. Why does life get in the way!

Please put me on the naughty list for 24 and 25 July. I just came home from 4 days at the hospital. Played early in the morning on Tuesday. Will play again tonight.

Plodding through piano music at a frustratingly slow pace since 9/2012.

Standard disclaimer: I teach many things. Piano is not one of them.

It's not the naughty list my dear, it is the excused list - and you can certainly go there.

I hope you are feeling ok now.

Please may I be excused from 7/20-28, since we spent a week in France. I did have an opportunity where I could have played a piano but alas, I have zero items memorized. Without sheet music I revert to being a non-player. I really want to fix that, sigh...

On the bright side, on arrival home, I found that a book (free via Paperbackswap.com) had arrived.
"Easy Billy Joel Songs" so I'll have some for items for my collection of "Music I hope to play one day."

Cas, please mark me out for August 4-8. I was at a conference in Austin, Texas (good), and got to visit with my daughter while I was there (even better). But I missed my husband so much (even more than my piano smile ). I am very happy to be home.
