Hello everyone,

I will be buying a digital piano soon and in the past few months, I have been trying to eliminate my choices by reading online, listening the demos on Youtube and personally trying them; but mostly reading and listening due to the simple fact that I cannot play the piano yet!

After all the reading and listening, I have decided that I want to buy a KAWAI digital piano.

Here's the game: I am able to buy a NOS CA-91 and a new CN-24 at the same price; about USD 1400, but don't know which one to go for and need some expert advice.

I know that CA-91 is an earlier model but it was on top of the KAWAI digital piano line with wooden keys and soundboard. On the other hand, CN-24 is the newest generation but it's an entry model.

What should I do? Go for the advanced model with older sounds, wooden keys and the soundboard speaker system or the newest technology entry model?

Cheers
Onur

Hello Onur,

Both instruments have their strengths and weaknesses:

CA91:
+ wooden-key action
+ soundboard speaker system
+ many sounds and features
- older sound technology
- no Ivory Touch or let-off simulation
- 2-sensor keyboard action

CN24
+ latest sound technology
+ Ivory Touch and let-off simulation
+ 3-sensor keyboard action
- less sounds and features
- smaller speaker system

My recommendation would be to play-test both models for a few hours, then purchase the piano that you enjoy playing the most. Even if you are a novice, you should still be able to appreciate the keyboard touch and sound quality of the two models.

Kind regards,
James
