Muse is piano music too. Looks like he's had some composition training too, especially in the modulation a little after 1:30

I've got "For once in my life" by Stevie Wonder on a loop in my head. What a great singer and song writer he is.
I've also had Beethoven's fourth piano concerto in my head for the last week or so.I heard Uchida playing it at the proms last week and although it wasn't note perfect by any means, it must have made an impression on me.The 4th is my favorite and I even made an effort to learn it at one time (What was I thinking?)I've been fiddling with the first movement cadenza this week though and I might inflict it on you all in the next recital.
Good old Youtube.Uchida's performance is here if anyone's interested.

Let's see
Robert Glasper - "In My Element"; Bill Evans - "You must believe in Spring", "New Jazz Conceptions" , "Sundays at the Village Vanguard", "The Bill Evans Album", Alfred Brendel - "Complete Beethoven Piano Sonata"; Renaissance - "Ashes are Burning."

Playlists on my mp3 player are very heterogeneous. From classical to alternative, from folk to metal. With the exception of pop, rap, hip hop and the like.

At the moment I'm listening to Two Steps from heck:

Tarja Turunen (though I prefer her Nightwish era)

Loreena Mckennitt

- Joe Cocker...amazing. I'd like to see a Joe Cocker sub-forum. Considering his earlier excesses it's remarkable that he isn't dead...

He was great at Woodstock thumb

You must be in my age group.

Don't laugh, but I love this song. I've been working it up on the piano.

Boira,

I really like this one song you posted by Loreena Mckennitt. Very tonal!, very easy to figure and play by ear and be worked up on the piano. I think I'll fool around with the chords for a while.

At this moment, Sonate Idylle by Nikolai Medtner performed by the late Geoffrey Tozer.

I have all of my music (some 35K tracks) on a NAS streaming to a Logitech Squeezebox. I almost always set it to random play of any music in the classical genre. Although it's sort of odd to get e.g., one movement of a symphony followed by a nocturne followed by an aria I find it's a nice way of playing through my entire collection and have discovered a lot of pieces that I really like that I might not otherwise have played. The next several pieces in the random playlist are:
  • Prelude No. 20 Op. 28 by Chopin performed by Pollini
  • Dolly Suite by Faure performed by Jean-Phillippe Collard
  • Secret - Lyric Pieces Op. 57 by Grieg performed by Eva Knardahl
  • Apotheose from Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty conducted by Antal Dorati
  • Transcendental Etude No. 8 Wild Jagd by Liszt performed by Claudio Arrau
  • Symphony No. 5, 1st Movement by Beethoven conducted by Herbert von Karajan
  • Symphony No. 1 "Gothic" by Alkan conducted by Ondrej Lenard

Yes! It's a nice old Irish traditional, very catchy. I'm waiting for a celtic harp to arrive and this is one of the tunes I'll try to play first smile

Pleasant to see Alkan in your list, an often forgotten composer of Chopin's contemporary.

Right now I'm about to go to bed (it's 20 minutes till 5 AM here laugh ), but the last piece I'm listening to is the Chopin E major scherzo. (For those of you who don't know, this is a great piece to listen to right before bed. laugh )

Painful to listen to (or watch) - he sang like he was dead...

I've been listening to the early Vic Damone - the Italian Love Songs!
