Hello all

New member here. I'd like to know when the next recital is, and are there any rules for this? As in, did you have to play a particular piece without errors? I think I might be a bit weak with the "interpretation" part of the music as well.

Thanks

Welcome!

For the next recital you will have to submit your mp3 by mid-November. I think that is all.
Don't worry about mistakes or interpretation!

Read this: recitals.pianoworld.com
That should answer most questions - looking forward to hearing you play!

Renner,

There is also a monthly Piano Bar thread here on ABF.
It is a little less formal than the quarterly recitals, with lots of work-in-progress postings.

There's also the Ecco Fatto Cafe where new members can post their first recordings in an especially friendly environment (not that the regular recitals for member recordings forum aren't).

Thank goodness there is no criteria like playing without errors or being weak on interpretation otherwise I would never be allowed to submit. Happy playing Renjer

How about repeats? As far as I know, in the ABRSM exams that I used to take, repeats are not needed. In the recitals here, is it necessary to obey repeat signs, or just ignore them?

I doubt the Pianoworld recitals will be like your ABRSM exams. This is not a regulated test, it is an opportunity to send in a recording for others to listen to, and to listen to their recordings yourself. If you want to play your piece at 3/4 speed and move everything down an octave, I reckon they'd be fine with that. laugh

Moving everything down an octave is strictly prohibited. If you want to transpose, you must move the piece down at least two octaves. If this moves your left hand off the edge of the keyboard, you must wrap it around to the high treble.

Mistakes? We call that "interpretation" here at the beginners forum laugh
I make plenty of mistakes and I'm finally getting less bothered by them. It's about making music, not strictly adhering to the score.
