So I've read these forums, and it sounds like there are some tremendously knowledgeable people here. So I would like to ask for some advice on which piano I should buy. A used DGC1m3 or a new DGB1e3?

I like the sound of Yamaha's, and I want a player just cause that seems neat. So my two options are an 8 year old DGC1 with mark iii for $14,000 (at least that is what the private seller is asking), OR a new DGB1 with an E3. Both pianos are roughly the same price. Both pianos are in good condition, sound good, look good. I hope to keep this piano in our living room for the next 50 years. I play, and I have 3 kids that will be learning on this piano.

The concern with the DGC1 is that it has a Mark iii. If I upgrade it to the latest DKC-850 E3 system, I have heard there is a chance the internet radio won't work. Plus that upgrade would be another $1500+.

The concern with the DGB1 is that it is a little smaller, and it doesn't have a warp bar on the lid. I'm not sure what other corners they have cut in order to make this piano more affordable than their others, but that could be a concern?

Obviously, the pro on the DGB1 is that it is brand new with a warranty, so there is no risk of having a major issue. And it works "out of the box" so to speak with no need to upgrade the Disklavier or make any chances.

So which would you go with?

Thanks for any advice or suggestions,
Ed

And there is an option to buy these used pianos:
6'1" 2005 conover-cable for $9000
5'9" Kholer & Campbell SKG600S for $5500
6'10" Young Chang G208 for $9800
6'1" 1987 Schafer & Sons 6'1" for $7000

I can then add the QRS PNOMATION II for about $6000.

Since I am looking for a player piano system, I have heard that Yamaha is an integrated system and is probably the best way to go.

Thanks,
Ed

If you like the sound of Yamaha, there is no sense buying other used pianos you listed.

Within Yamaha brand, how do you like the sound of DGC1m3 and DGB1e3? DCG1 is 4" longer and should have noticeable tone quality improvement over DGB.

A used piano may give you more bang for the buck. You just need to have it checked out thoroughly.
