@Wouter, too bad you won't come to Lisbon... Maybe next year, right?
@musdan - It's really a pleasure to organize a party like this. Thanks.

I invited two more friends to our party.
- One of them was an amateur pianist but I think she doesn't want to play with us - she quit playing a few years ago -. She loves music and she knows how hard is to master a piano.

- The other one is not a pianist but he's a great amateur photographer - mainly doing pictures of nature and wildlife animals -. He loves piano and Bach - Greener, where are you? -. Some time ago, he asked my permission to put one of my pieces as the background music of one of his gallery slideshows. I was very proud... smile

Here is the updated list:

My problem is not find people to invite... my problem is to find the right people to invite smile

You know, I don't want to call everybody I know just to fill in the number of guests. I want someone who can really enjoy our party; Don't worry, I've a couple of candidates thumb

Performance anxiety for the moment is low, I've just survived the recital and I'm sure the audience at EPP will be really supportive.
What bothers me a bit is... my English sucks blush. Really.

I need to practise a bit but in these weeks I'm much busier than expected and always tired...

Don't feel bad, torquenale. I doubt your English is as bad as my Portuguese and Italian.

The good news is we all understand and will relate with music smile

I leave you some challenges: grin

1-"Eu falo tão mal inglês, como eu leio pautas."

2-"O meu inglês é mau, mas a minha mulher consegue falar francês."

3--"Estou desejo de te conhecer e ouvir tocar piano!"

4-"Parabéns! Se conseguiste ler estas frases, então o teu português é melhor que o meu inglês."

Hi EPP2014 group!
I invited another friend of mine!
He is journalist and DJ, and he has an incredible positive energy which was very important in some (bad) phases of my life. He's my friend for more that 25 years and I just had his confirmation now.
You may think a DJ won't enjoy piano music, but you're wrong. He loves the sound of a piano.

So, here it is the updated list:

This is Terrific news, Carlos. It will be nice to meet your friends. Excellent work.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1-"Eu falo tão mal inglês, como eu leio pautas."
If the Itinerary/Agenda for the EPP is in English, just come to me for any help you may need.
2-"O meu inglês é mau, mas a minha mulher consegue falar francês."
I very much am looking forward to meeting you both. Sinto muito, eu não falo qualquer português ou francês.
3--"Estou desejo de te conhecer e ouvir tocar piano!"
Me too. This will be great.
4-"Parabéns! Se conseguiste ler estas frases, então o teu português é melhor que o meu inglês."
Obrigado, Carlos. There is no fear of that though. With more time I would have studied harder. For this exercise, I cheated ... grin. Technology of course, is a wonderful thing.
I took conversational Spanish following a trip to Cuba many years ago. I think this may help me a wee bit. It is similar in some respects, yes?
Ahahaha, very good Greener!!!
Spanish is a little bit similar, yes. We can understand/speak a language called "spanishese" which is a mix between spanhish and portuguese LOL!
Btw, my wife is asking if you can also speak french, because as I wrote in my 2nd quiz question, she can speak french with ease.
edit: you had already answered this
Jun/10, Portugal national day, and an important day for our EPP.
Yesterday I did a meeting with Carlos Lala (owner of "Duetos da Sé" restaurant) to close the deal, so I'd like to share what we agreed about the party.
The final price allows us to divide the cost in this way:
- Pianist: €45
- Guest: €22
- Kids: €15 (with a special dish)
This prices include:
- A buffet lunch at 13:00, with several typical meals and drinks - *see menu below
- A buffet snack at 17:00, with several typical meals and drinks - *see menu below
- Exclusive use of the restaurant/bar between 13:00 and 18:30;
- Unlimited use of the piano between 13:00 and 18:30;
- Unlimited wifi internet access;
- Free access to the piano at "Duetos da Sé" between 31/jun and 5/jul (during afternoon, outside mealtimes)- Pianists just have to say that they belong to the "Piano Party" group, therefore you can practice and fell the keyboard before the EPP.
Conditions:
- IMPORTANT: Ending time: 18:30! They need to start cleaning the room for dinners;
- Confirmation of the exact number of guests: 01/jul;
- Carlos Lala wants one person responsible for the payment. It's me smile You pay me, I pay him.
- Any extra consumption that is not on the menu will be paid by each one.
*Menu
Buffet lunch 13:00h
(notice: it's hard do translate so many portuguese words... I used google translate smile )
:Couvert - Duo of hot breads, "paté" with olives, homemade sweets.
:Appetizer - Shot of Gazpacho, "chouriço das beiras", cottage cheese with honey and walnuts, scrambled eggs with "farinheira"
:Fish dish - Codfish crust bread and olives about sprouts and potatos. For kids: Special Hamburger of the house.
:Desserts - "Pastel de Nata" w / cinnamon ice cream.
:Drinks - Wines: "Fonte Serrana" White and Red. Water, Coffees and Teas
Buffet snack 17:00h
- "Caldo Verde", "bifanas" on bread w/ garlic, homemade cake
- Glass of beer or glass of red wine Pipa, shot of "abafado".
Other considerations:
There is a chance to have the media (written, radio or TV) with us to do a short coverage of the event, but only between the 17:00 and 18:00 - I want to keep our party private! -. I don't know yet the details or if they'll show up, but I'd like to know your thoughts about it.
Thanks.
CarlosCC
Carlos, that's great - and how wonderful we can practice on the piano before the event! woohoo!
As for the media...I don't particularly wish to be filmed while playing, but if they are unobtrusive I could deal with it. I think that if they mention any of the members it should be by first name only - or even our forum names.
For me, the key thing is that they would have to be very low key.
I agree, Cas. I have no idea really how self conscious I may become with my playing already. So for that reason I'm at first apprehensive. However, it adds a bit of excitement too with what is looking out to be a really great EPP. I'd be fine with it too, if not obtrusive cool .
Media: This is a question that has "haunted" me over time. I want our party to be as relax and private as possible, but I have been pressured to leave the media to do a story about it.
To be very clear, I don't have any personal interest or any other kind of interest in having the media with us. The idea was to have some sponsorship to pay our EPP, but once the price is closed, I think we can waive the presence of them.
As I told, I even don't know if the'll show up, but what I can to do is to allow access to written media only (magazines and newspapers), for 1 hour, between 17h-18h. So, no recording images - filming - and no sound recording. Maybe some photos, but this is OK for me - we are going to publish some photos on internet, aren't we? -
I think it's a balanced proposal. What do you think?
I don't like the idea of being recorded to be honest, cannot even come to record myself yet laugh but whatever happens, I just plan on having a nice fun (hopefully relaxed) afternoon/evening.
It's not the cameras that bother me, having been on TV before that's not a problem... I just don't want to be recorded playing smile
Carlos you are an excellent event planner! Are we allowed to drink wine before playing?
For the media I don't know... maybe I could play only before they arrive grin
Seriously, I don't bother written media but I don't like to be filmed while playing, I think it's too much pressure. On the other hand, I'm sure that if I mess up they will immediately delete the recording smile
Actually my mother used her camera to film me at the recital two weeks ago, but she told me later!
