Wonder about advices how to refinish the brass logo (Steinway&son) without harm the polyester. Many thanks for advices

most brass cleaning fluid will have some effect despite the little lacquer above the logo. at worst you attain the brass.

This may not be good advice, so caution is in order... (in other words, do not try this at home smile ).

I used 0000 steel wool and a soapy water solution; use minimal pressure. This will clean/polish the brass lettering nicely, but will leave small, minute scratches in the finish; however, the very fine scratches can be polished/buffed out with a good piano polish.

It worked for me... smile

Something else that will work, if there is no lacquer or finish on the brass itself: Just rub the lettering prodigiously with your fingers. Palm oil has enough of a acidic quality to it that it will cut through the oxidation on the brass. It's a lot of work, but you will be assured of not harming the finish. Anything with solvent or abrasives, no guarantee.
